Battery Waste Management

When disposing of batteries, it is crucial that they are handled and treated in the correct way

In a single year, around 18000 tonnes of portable batteries were recycled of in the UK.  Unfortunately up to 20000 batteries we sent to landfill.  This can cause fires and pollution for the environment.

It is important for both the environment and for public safety that batteries are handled and disposed of correctly, and most of all respected for their volatility.  Between 2024-25 there were over 1200 recorded incidents by waste providers due to incorrectly disposed battery cells.

HazExperts have ample experience when dealing with both domestic cells and also commerical EV batteries and preparing them for their correct recycling route.

Batteries can include, but are not limited to:

  • Alkaline, AA/AAA Household Batteries
  • Lithium Ion (Li-ion) Batteries
  • Ni-mh Cells
  • Ni-cd Battery Cells
  • Lead Acid Car Batteries

If your business generates or manufactures batteries, it is important to have a partner on hand who can collect these cells, make them safe for transport and then have them recycled compliantly.

We serve the whole of the UK and specialise in the collection of hazardous and dangerous goods
