Historic city access and storage
York’s central streets include conservation areas, narrow routes and busy pedestrian locations. Businesses in or near the city centre may need to think carefully about where hazardous waste is stored before collection, how containers are segregated, and how movements are planned to avoid disrupting customers, visitors or residents. Smaller premises can still generate regulated wastes such as aerosols, WEEE, waste oils, filters, cleaning chemicals and contaminated wipes. Clear labelling, suitable containment and separation of incompatible materials are particularly important where storage areas are limited.
