Port, workshop and vehicle-related waste
Liverpool’s dockside and road-connected business areas include activities where waste oils, oil filters, fuel filters, oily rags, contaminated absorbents, aerosols, tyres and interceptor waste can arise. Vehicle servicing, plant maintenance, fleet depots and marine-adjacent operations should not treat these materials as ordinary trade waste. Oil-water separators and interceptor tanks also need appropriate emptying and disposal of contaminated liquids and sludge. Correct segregation reduces the risk of spills, drainage contamination and rejected loads, particularly where premises are close to the River Mersey or surface water drainage.
